Eating Weetabix for breakfast could cut the risk of dying early, research has found.
Having a 16g serving of wholegrain every day prevents the risk of dying from heart disease or cancer, and eating even more whole grains creates even bigger benefits.
Experts at Harvard found that for every serving of whole grain eaten, there was a nine per cent drop in death from cardiovascular disease and a five per cent drop in the chance of dying from cancer.
But in people eating a 48g serving of wholegrain, scientists recorded a 25 per cent lower risk of a cardiovascular death and a 14 per cent reduced chance of dying from cancer.
The research was published in the American Heart Association journal. More
